Advanced Anodising for Aluminium

Anodising doesn’t add a layer on top of the aluminium the way powder coating does. It grows the metal’s own natural oxide layer thicker through an electrochemical process, so the finish becomes part of the base material itself rather than a coating that can chip, flake, or peel away.

The resulting oxide layer is porous, which lets it absorb metallic dyes for a wide range of vibrant, long-lasting colours before being sealed for permanence. From architectural profiles to precision components, the finish holds its colour and corrosion resistance for the life of the product.

TECHNICAL PROCESS AND ADVANTAGES

Aluminium Anodising Process

  • 01. Surface Preparation

    The aluminium is thoroughly cleaned and chemically etched to remove grease, dirt, and its original, thin oxide layer.
  • 02. The Anodising Bath

    The clean aluminium is submerged in an acid electrolyte bath, usually sulphuric acid, and acts as the positive electrode.
  • 03. Electrolysis

    An electrical current is passed through the acid, releasing oxygen ions from the electrolyte that bond with the aluminium surface, growing a dense oxide layer.
  • 04. Colouring

    The newly formed oxide layer has a porous, honeycomb-like structure, allowing it to soak up metallic dyes for vibrant, long-lasting colours.
  • 05. Sealing

    The pores are closed by immersing the aluminium in hot water or a chemical sealant, locking in the dye and improving stain and corrosion resistance.
